@Mike Blanche

While it is true the CATO Institute is not affiliated with either party, they are distinctly right wing.

However, since you asked for it, they have done studies on illegal immigrants and various actions. They concluded it was beneficial to legalize our current illegal immigrant population.

Here is an article about it with a link to the original study.

Just as a point of clarification, the study was conducted by the Urban Institute, a national research and policy think-tank, not the Urban League. The study was commissioned by the National Council of La Raza.

I don't know if this study was paid for by La Raza, but it was published by The Urban League, another strongly anti-enforcement group. Now, if you pointed out a study by the Cato Institute (a Libertarian think tank that is very independent of both major parties), I'd take it seriously.

This study is like a study from NORML saying that the current drug policy is not working, or from the NRLC that abortions are hurting our population. When you consider the source of news, sometimes the news isn't.

I am happy to see Arizona follow suit. I lived in Tucson which is basically a shithole that caters to this same BS thinking. I have had friends from the East Coast ask why Tucson looks worst than many South American cities. Now living in Phoenix you have to drive thru a swarm of these illegals just to by some hardware or tools. I do my own yard watch my own kids and cook my own carne asada so I dont require the services of felons, go home hombres!

Come on, people! The study was paid for by La Raza (The Race) - one of the most rabid pro-illegal immigration groups in the nation... Do you really think it was going to be a balanced report?

"If the true point of HB 1804 was to make unauthorized residents and others in the immigrant community feel more uncomfortable and unwelcome in Oklahoma, then the legislation may still have accomplished its goal." Exactly!

Thanks for this info. I do recall a meeting where you were giving an 1804 presentation and said this law will have little to no impact. Besides the fear that was created, you were correct!
