CAP Issue Brief: Oklahoma’s State Pensions Systems Challenges and Solutions

This January 2007 issue brief and fact sheet were produced for the Public Policy Department of the Community Action Project of Tulsa County under the direction of David Blatt, then Director of Policy at CAP.

This issue brief and fact sheet are intended to shed light on the status of Oklahoma’s public pension systems. It examines the funding situation of Oklahoma’s seven public pension plans, with a particular emphasis on the largest and most seriously underfunded plan, the Oklahoma Teachers’ Retirement System. It also explores some of the policy options that have been placed on the table for improving the financial health of the pension systems, attempting to identify  advantages and concerns with each approach.
