Linda Edmondson joins OK Policy Board

Oklahoma Policy Institute has announced that Linda Edmondson, a social worker and community volunteer, has joined its Board of Directors.

“We are greatly honored to have Linda Edmondson join the Board of Oklahoma Policy Institute,” stated Board Chair Vince LoVoi. “Linda continues our tradition of a strong, bipartisan Board of Directors respected across the state. In particular, she brings tremendous experience in non-profit leadership that will allow us to become an even stronger organization in the years ahead.”

Edmondson, a resident of Oklahoma City, serves on numerous community boards including the Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma, the Governor’s Hospice Advisory Board, the Oklahoma Hospice Foundation, the State Capitol Preservation Commission, and the Center for Poets and Writers at OSU Tulsa.

“I am delighted to be joining the Board of Oklahoma Policy Institute,” Edmondson stated. “OK Policy has become known for serving a vital role in this state providing unbiased facts and analysis to policy-makers and the public.  I hope to contribute to its efforts to provide adequate funding for public services and increased opportunities for Oklahomans.”

David Blatt, Director of OK Policy, said, “Linda Edmondson is a perfect fit with our mission of providing data-driven analysis that focuses on promoting fiscal responsibility and expanding economic opportunity for all Oklahomans.  The work of OK Policy will benefit greatly from Linda’s passion, energy, and intelligence.”

Previously Edmondson has served as co-chair of the Attorney General’s Task Force on End of Life Care and also as executive director of the Oklahoma Association for Healthcare Ethics.  Her social work career included ten years as director of social work at Muskogee Regional Medical Center.  She also worked for Muskogee Public Schools and the Department of Human Services.  Edmondson is a member of Leadership Oklahoma Class VII.

Edmondson has been honored as a distinguished alumnus of the OU College of Arts and Sciences and also as Oklahoma’s “Social Worker of the Year.”  She has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Oklahoma.

She is married to former Attorney General Drew Edmondson.  They have two children.  Mary Edmondson Ross and her husband Mike live in Arlington, Virginia, with their twins Catherine and Andrew.  Robert Edmondson and his wife Andrea live in Oklahoma City.

Edmondson was added to the Board to replace Nance Diamond, who leaves after serving over four years on the Board. Diamond was one of OK Policy’s founding Board members.

“We are extremely grateful to Nance for her work in launching OK Policy and for her contributions to the organization’s success,” said LoVoi. “We look forward to her continued support and involvement in the years ahead.”

In addition to LoVoi and Edmondson, other Board members include Don Millican, Nancy Robertson, Albert “Kell” Kelly, Steve Burrage and Susan Neal.
