Upcoming Event: Webinar on Individual Development Accounts (IDAs): Programs and Policies that Work!, June 23rd

Oklahoma Assets will host the third in a series of webinars on asset-building next Thursday, June 23rd from 1:00 to 2:00 pm CDT.  The 60-minute webinar, “Individual Development Accounts (IDAs): Programs and Policies that Work!” will show how IDAs offer individuals with low income and limited resources the opportunity to save money for education, a small business, or a home.  IDA participants enjoy matched savings, peer support, financial education and training specific to their savings goal.  Click here to register, free of charge.

The webinar will begin with a short introduction to IDAs by the moderator and then presenters will share their first hand experiences administering IDAs.  Presenters will discuss their program’s history, goals, and population served and offer advice for other actual or potential practitioners.  They will also cover:

  • the basics of how IDAs work,
  • the program components and partnerships common to IDA programs,
  • the costs of building and operating IDA programs and ways to fund IDA programs,
  • policy options that could lead to more widespread IDA access for Oklahomans, and
  • best practices and lessons learned from the IDA field.

A national asset-building expert will follow with a discussion of policy options for expanding IDAs in Oklahoma.  Participants are encouraged to ask questions and contribute their thoughts during the final Q&A segment.  Join us next week for what is sure to be an interesting and informative session!  Click here for more information about the event.
