Now we are eight!

We’re glad to announce that DeVon Douglass has joined OK Policy as our newest policy analyst.  At OK Policy, Douglass will focus her research on policies to ensure economic opportunity and financial security for all Oklahomans. She will also coordinate the Oklahoma Assets Network, a coalition of professionals from a broad range of fields, including non-profit and for-profit organizations, government agencies, and American Indian Nations, who are working to promote proven tools for all Oklahomans to build stronger financial foundations.

“We went through a very competitive selection process for this position,” said OK Policy’s Executive Director David Blatt. “We were highly impressed by DeVon’s combination of research experience, communication skills, and commitment to improving financial security and opportunity for the people of our state. We know she will help us continue to have a great impact in providing the facts and advocating for policy solutions to improve Oklahoma.”

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Douglass graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa. Douglass previously served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General. She also worked as an intern at the Community Service Council and the Legal Services Corporation. She can be reached by e-mail at ddouglass@okpolicy.org.

“I am excited to be at OK Policy, because I know that here, with this thoughtful, talented staff, we can do it. We can make a lasting change in lives of Oklahomans,” said Douglass.

The addition of Douglass brings OK Policy to an eight-member staff, including Executive Director David Blatt, Policy Director Gene Perry, Operations and Development Director Shiloh Kantz, Policy Analyst Carly Putnam, Outreach Specialist Kara Joy McKee, Outreach and Operations Associate Tyler Parette, and Legislative Liaison Damario Solomon-Simmons. Since the launch of OK Policy in early 2008, we have greatly expanded our capacity to produce credible data and reports and to empower more Oklahomans to advocate for smarter public policies.

We are grateful for the support of donors across Oklahoma who enable us to continue this mission. Click here if you’d like to make a tax-deductible contribution to our work.
