OK Policy announces new board member

The Oklahoma Policy Institute has announced Rebecca Thompson, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of AAON, Inc., has joined its board of directors.

Thompson has served as AAON’s CFO and Treasurer since May 2021. Previously, she served as the company’s Chief Accounting Officer since December 2012 and as its CAO and Treasurer since November 2017. The Tulsa-based company is engaged in the engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sale of semi-custom heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment (HVAC) for commercial use. She oversees all accounting and finance functions, including Security and Exchange Commission reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley reporting compliance, payroll, and income taxes.

“We’re excited to have someone with Rebecca’s experience join our board to help strengthen the organization and support the vital contributions OK Policy makes to policy discussions in our state,” said OK Policy Board Chair Dr. Joe Siano.

Before joining AAON, Thompson started her career with Andersen in June 2001 and continued on with Grant Thornton through December 2012. She worked as a Senior Manager in the Assurance division on primarily oil and gas clients. Thompson graduated from the University of Tulsa with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master of Information Systems and Accounting. She also is a Certified Public Accountant.

A lifelong resident of the Tulsa area, Thompson enjoys being outdoors and participating in triathlons along with spending time with her two grandchildren. She has a blended family with her husband Geoffrey, his two children, her adult son and his family, and the two family cats. She is currently finishing up Leadership Tulsa Class 64.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

David Hamby has more than 25 years of experience as an award-winning communicator, including overseeing communication programs for Oklahoma higher education institutions and other organizations. Before joining OK Policy, he was director of public relations for Rogers State University where he managed the school’s external communication programs and served as a member of the president’s leadership team. He served in a similar communications role for five years at the University of Tulsa. He also has worked in communications roles at Oklahoma State University and the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce in Arkansas. He joined OK Policy in October 2019.
