Oklahoma Policy Institute is very pleased to announce that Shiloh Kantz has been promoted to the position of Director of Operations and Development effective June 1, 2015.
In the newly-created position, Kantz’s responsibilities include financial management, fundraising and development, event coordination, strategic initiatives, and human resources. She is also coordinating the Summer Policy Institute, an annual program that brings 60 students from across the state to Tulsa in August for a four-day training in state policy issues.
“Since joining OK Policy, Shiloh has been a key part of the organization’s success,” said David Blatt, OK Policy’s Executive Director. “Over time, she has grown into new and expanded responsibilities, managing complex projects with great skill and poise, and bringing strategic insights to various organizational issues. In her new position, I am confident she will make an even greater contribution to strengthening and growing our organization in the years ahead.”
A native Tulsan, Kantz joined OK Policy in early 2010 as a part-time office manager. Prior to joining OK Policy, she worked as a controller and office manager for an Oklahoma small business group. She earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Tulsa Community College. A mother of three children, aged 16, 11 and 4, Shiloh has been an active member of the Parent Teachers Association at Carnegie Elementary School. She is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.
“Before working at OK Policy, I did not understand how decisions made by our state government, especially pertaining to tax and budget issues, really affected me and my family. I, like a lot of Oklahomans, mostly focused on issues at the national level. I hope through our continued work at OK Policy that my coworkers and I can continue to educate people that sensible budget and tax decisions are the key to having quality education for our kids, strong infrastructure for our cities, and opportunities for people to make better lives for themselves.”
Oklahoma Policy Institute is a non-partisan think-tank that promotes adequate, fair, and fiscally responsible funding of public services and expanded opportunity for all Oklahomans by providing timely and credible information, analysis, and ideas. Its six-member staff is based in Tulsa.
