Families USA: Health Reform in Oklahoma – Building on a Solid Foundation

On September 22, 2008, the Oklahoma Health Care Reform Task Force heard a presentation from Kathleen Stoll, Deputy Executive Director of Families USA, a non-profit organization based in Washington D.C. that brings the voice of consumers to federal and state health care policy issues.

Stoll’s presentation offered a detailed and insightful overview of current initiatives to expand coverage in Oklahoma and made a series of recommendations for building on the state’s current health care system to provide coverage to at lest some of the 661,000 Oklahomans who are currently uncovered.

 The Task Force, which includes OK Policy’s Director of Policy as an advisory committee member, is holding hearings throughout the fall and is expcted to release a report and reocmmendations by the end of 2008.
